About Team Hannah TSC
Welcome to Team Hannah's website. We are here to bring awareness about Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) as well as raise funds for finding a cure.
The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is the only national organization dedicated to finding a cure for tuberous sclerosis complex while improving the lives of those affected. It was founded in 1974 by four mothers coming together to provide fellowship, generate awareness, pursue more knowledge and provide hope to those that shared the common bond of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.
What is Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC)? Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in many different organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. The disease affects some people severely, while others are so mildly affected that it often goes undiagnosed. Some people with TSC experience developmental delay, mental retardation and autism. However, there are also many people with TSC living independent, healthy lives who enjoy challenging professions such as doctors, lawyers, educators and researchers.
That is the short answer. For more in depth information please visit the TSC Page on this website or the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance website at tsalliance.org.
Who is Team Hannah?---Hannah Bevans was born in Sept 2007. Two days before her birth, the doctors performed an ultrasound and found more than 20 tumors (rhabdomyomas) in her heart before they stopped counting. Within 24 hours of her birth, after multiple CT scans, MRI and more ultrasounds the specialists determined that Hannah had Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.
Every year since Hannah's birth, her family and friends have taken part as "Team Hannah" with the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (TSA) of Michigan and its annual walk held each June in Lansing, Michigan. The goal of Team Hannah is to raise awareness of this condition while helping find a cure. 1 in 6000 births will have Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, but due to the wide range of symptoms many are not diagnosed or aware of their illness until their children or grandchildren show problems.
You can find more detailed information about Hannah and her particular case of TSC on Hannah's Page on this website. On the Fundraisers page, you can find more information about the annual TS Alliance of Michigan walk, Taggies For TSC and other upcoming and ongoing fundraisers.
Our Goal--- The goal of Team Hannah is to raise awareness and find a cure for TSC but we cannot do it alone. We need you to send a link to our site to your friends and family by email or through Facebook. We need you to drive traffic to us through Twitter or your favorite blog. We need you to Step Forward To Cure TSC!
